Organizational Setting
The project “Payment for Ecosystem Services to Support Forest Conservation and Sustainable Livelihoods” aims to “promote biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation in Miombo forest ecosystems through the development of a payment for ecosystem services (PES) scheme that supports the sustainable use and conservation of forest and wildlife resources and improves the livelihoods of local people”. This project, financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), is implemented by FAO with the support of partners through agreements in Zambezia province, in the districts of Alto Molócuè, Maganja da Costa, Gilé and Mulevala. The project advocates an integrated vision of natural resource management. In this framework, rural communities in the above mentioned districts receive direct support through the development of income generation activities (beekeeping, permanent agriculture and fish farming), support activities (improved nutrition and the creation of Rotating Savings and Credit Groups (RSCG), and the improvement of community natural resource management (strengthening of CBNRM committees and a participatory and integrated natural resource use plan). Reporting Lines Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Mozambique (Budget Holder), the technical supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA), in close coordination with the Monitoring & Evaluation expert and the Provincial Facilitator, the consultant on Integrated Natural Resources Management will be responsible, but not limited, to perform the following tasks and duties\: Technical Focus To Provide technical support on all activities at national, provincial, district and local levels; and Ensure coordination with external stakeholders, holding regular meetings with government, provincial, national and international partners (e.g. World Bank, FNDS, European Union, CESC, Biofund, iTC-F, RADEZA, Rede para o Maneio Comunitário dos Recursos Naturais, Nitidae, WWF, etc.).
