EngenderHealth is looking for Gender-Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor. The Gender, Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor leads the integration of gender and youth transformative and socially inclusive programming elements in accordance with global best practice, donor and Engender health’s requirements.

The Gender,Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor participates in strategy, program implementation, program monitoring, and evaluation in relation to gender, youth and social inclusion integration in all projects. This include capacity building and technical assistance to government, civil society and community stakeholders.

S/he will report to EngenderHealth’s West and Central Africa Regional Representative. This position works closely with the GYSI unit at EngenderHealth, and provides leadership, guidance and technical support to the West and Central Africa regional program portfolio, in designing, implementing and documenting GYSI focussed programming. This role is likely to require up to 25% travel.T

RESPONSIBILITIES of Gender-Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor

The gender and youth advisor will:

  • The Gender-Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor Provide direct in-country technical assistance to Engenderhealth’s project, to partners, community-based organization as appropriate within area of expertise
  • Act as GYSI focal point on project activities in country
  • The Gender-Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor Work in close collaboration with the Global GYSI technical experts team to produce a CI EH’s strategy and later on a regional GYSI strategy for WCA
  • The Gender-Youth and Social Inclusion Advisor Lead the implementation, reporting and financial management of the Packard project,
  • Ensure the consistency and high quality of the gender, youth and social inclusion  technical work carried out under all platforms related projects.
  • Regularly produce reports documenting technical assistance activities, and communicate achievements to collaborating institutions, other in country partners, donors and EH headquarters.
  • Ensure effective communications within the in-country team.
  • Contribute actively to professional development of other team members, and support GYSI marker roll out at the regional level.
  • Support the roll out of GYSI strategy and GEDI policy, including contextualization of the GEDI policy for the countries within WCA region. .
  • Capacity building of all country teams on Gender, youth and social inclusion, using EngenderHealth’ s GYSI staff training manual.
  • Represent EngenderHealth in key national forums that advance gender,outh and social inclusion issues
  • Actively engage with donor representatives in the region and ensure that there is steady growth of the program portfolio in Burkina Faso.
  • Any other tasks assigned from time to time.



Must possess the following requirements with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Advanced degree in gender, public health, nursing, social sciences, international development, business Administration, or related field.
  • Having a professional medical ethic and understanding of comprehensive abortion care and menstruation regulation programs
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in implementing development related programs in West or Central Africa
  • Strong writing and oral communications skills in English and French.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time (equivalent of 16 weeks annually) to work with EngenderHealth’s field staff and partners.
  • Experience in integrating reproductive health interventions in public and/or private sector interventions.
  • Experience in representing organizations in national and global technical fora.

  • Comfort with a matrix management approach


  • Fluency in English and French including business and healthcare term
  • Experience working with multiple donors and multilateral institutions, e.g. USAID, DFID, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA.
  • Good knowledge of Cote d’Ivoire gender, and social issues (health, education etc..) is an asset
  • Experience in advocacy and external high-level representation.
