MAG supports the development of countries emerging from conflict by finding and destroying the explosive remnants of war, so that communities can raise their families and pursue their livelihoods in a safe and secure environment, free from fear of death or injury. The main area of focus in MAG’s programmes across West Africa is Arms Management and Destruction (AMD) work, working with national defence and security authorities towards the safe storage management as well as destruction of weapons and munitions. Our AMD operations are focused on armoury construction, design and management, weapons marking and management, assessment of needs and bulk demolitions.

About the role:

As a Programme Officer with MAG, you will undertake a wide range of activities including grant and contract monitoring, information systems management, and proposal and report writing for donors. You will support the Country Director in ensuring the programmes meet their contractual requirements, and in programme business planning and budgeting. Communication with donors and partners will be a core function of the role.

About you:

The successful candidate will have experience of working at HQ or field level in international aid or development and will have previous experience in West Africa. Experience in reporting and knowledge of support service procedures is required. You will have proposal writing and research skills, excellent organisational skills, and French language skills, with the ability to produce high quality written material in both French and English. You will be able to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally, and will have good security awareness, particularly where it applies to project design.**

2. Finance and Support Services Manager, Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role:NGO Jobs in Africa jobs-Mines Advisory Group

This is an exciting new opportunity to support a growing programme. Reporting to the Country Director, the Finance and Support Services Manager will be a member of the programmes’ Senior Management Team, and will provide leadership and oversight to support service functions in the programme, including Logistics, Procurement, Stores, Fleet, IT, HR and Finance ensuring system design, implementation and continuous improvement in line with MAG policies, good practice and donor guidelines. The role will be responsible for management of the Deputy Finance Manager, Logistics Manager, and HR Assistant.

About you:

The successful candidate will have relevant overseas experience in the NGO sector, and experience in managing Finance and other Support Services at a senior level. Strong communication skills are essential, as is excellent people management experience. You will also need to be able to demonstrate the ability to report in a timely and accurate manner, the ability to work independently and build excellent working relationship with project stakeholders.

The ability to work in both French and English is required.


MAG staff are rewarded with generous benefits:

Salary: The starting salary package for this position is £57,004 GBP / approx. $70,268 USD and this increases with service.
Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You’ll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year.
Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year.
