PLAY International mission in Senegal Seek to recruit Program Coordinator

 

French NGO, PLAY International was born in 1999 from the idea that sport could be a catalyst for social change. Since that date, the NGO has developed and managed education projects in some 15 countries for the benefit of more than half a million children.

Since the end of 2019, the NGO has been deployed in Senegal where a mission is established in Dakar, and implements a large program of education through sport on a regional level via an incubator for West Africa, and directly in two regions of the country thanks to its partner network: in the North in Saint-Louis, in the South in Casamance.

 

Job Description :

Missions Note: this position is based in Ziguinchor, and covers ongoing activities in Saint-Louis and Casamance. Regular trips are organized to Dakar and Saint-Louis.

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission Senegal and in close cooperation with the Head of Programs at headquarters and the Educational Coordinator of the mission,

the Program Coordinator ensures the coordination of all program activities, their financial management and team coordination,

in conjunction with the mission’s operational team and local project partners. In this context, the missions are as follows:

I / Program management

A1. Project execution     Lead the operationalization of the project: implementation planning, creation of the timetable, application of the protocol/monitoring and evaluation tools

Ensures the overall monitoring and coordination of the execution of activities

A2. Team management, including partners and management

Provide technical supervision and support for the people making up the operational team of program partners

Facilitates / supervises the skills development of local partners allowing optimal deployment of activities

A3. Donor reporting

Ensures the financial monitoring of programs    Writes interim and final narrative and financial reports (with support from headquarters)

A4. Capitalization and evaluation of programs

Participate in the internal evaluation of programs, formulation of recommendations for improving the quality of actions    Ensures a regular dynamic of capitalization of activities and programs II / Program development

A1. Identification and responses to opportunities

Monitoring of local financial opportunities (validation with the mission, head office)

Write and / or proofread program proposal files (including financial dimension)A2. Local coordination (authorities, sectors, partners)

Ensures regular liaison with local and sectoral authorities (city, region, national occasionally)

Feeds the knowledge of the Senegal mission on local stakeholders involved in an ecosystem of sport, youth and education (operational diagnosis, 4Ws mapping)

Organizes and contributes to the animation of project steering committees, monitoring of partnerships on technical and financial levels

Upon request, participate in sectoral and institutional meetings on the themes of protection, education and social cohesion

 

Expected profile: University studies     Master II level in international relations, project management or equivalent, international cooperation, development

A finance / accounting dimension is a real asset Professional experience     At least three years of experience in the international cooperation and development sector (NGOs, donors, etc.) ** Know how

Excellent mastery of the project cycle    Team management experience    Good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation processes

Experience and appetite for financial monitoring; mastery of accounting software (eg: SAGA) is an asset

Excellent knowledge of the office pack    Driver’s license Know-how     Strong sense of initiative and autonomy, taste for teamwork

Stress and priority management    Writing and oratory skills, representation    Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, sense of diplomacy Contract:     VSI (Volontariat de Solidarité Internationale) or local contract of 2 years, renewable    Compensation according to profile
