Position ResponsibilitiesThe Postdoctoral Fellow-Molecular Breeder under the immediate supervision of the genetic DiversityandImprovementProgram Leader, he/she will undertake activities related to molecular breeding. The successful candidate will take the following responsibilities:

•Develop and implement innovative molecular breeding strategies

•Implement trait discovery, development, and deployment projects in collaboration with research teams within the Center and/or of other research institutes

•Participate in various components of rice breeding programs such as hybrid creation, F1 verification, marker-assisted selection, product advancement and testing

•Support optimization of breeding processes such as genomic selection and marker-assisted breeding

•Contribute to automation and digitization of various breeding processes•Contribute to development of project proposals in research on rice genetics and breeding

•Manage project reports and publish research results

•Contribute to degree and non-degree training program qualifications /Selection CriteriaEducation: Ph.D.in Plant Breeding or Quantitative Genetics or related field of Crop Science, or other related fields.Knowledge and Key Competencies:

•Significant and demonstrated experience in rice breeding

•Strong background in genetics, genomics, experimental design and molecular marker applications•Experience in statistical tools used in quantitative genetics

•Strongcommunicationand organizational skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment

2•Ability to implement the tasks autonomously with minimal supervision and collaborative team playing spirit to effectively work in the multi-disciplinary team under pressure•Ability to motivate and manage staff

•Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and demonstrate composure under stress and in times of uncertainty.•Strong ability to assess and analyse challenges and provide rational and well-thought out conclusions and solutions.

•High integrity, result-oriented and able to exercise sound judgment and think creatively and strategically.LanguageThe candidate should communicate fluently (oral and writing) in English and have a good working knowledge in French.Terms and conditions

•This is an internationally recruited position.
